An Assistant Team leader Gardening is responsible for planting, clearing, and mowing the property to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience.

What will I be doing?

As An Assistant Team leader Gardening, you are responsible for planting, clearing, and mowing the property to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. An Assistant Team leader Gardening will also be required to ensure the lawns, trees, and hedges are kept to the required standard. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

• To be flexible, responding quickly and positively to changing requirements including the performance of any tasks requested of you.
• To takes direction from and carry out any requests by management in conjunction with work.
• Day to day landscape maintenance operations
• Production and maintenance of herbs
• Vegetables and fruits from produce garden situated on main resort island
• Production and maintenance of main remote production facility
• Management of green waste streams through mulching and composting
• Monitoring and operation of garden irrigation system on main resort island,
• Overall site presentation of all gardens and vegetation
• Landscape quality and presentation is a significant element of guest perception and hence there is considerable importance attached to appropriate landscape maintenance and on going development in accordance with concept and theme.
• Preparation of maintenance schedules, works programs and budgets.
• To roster team members in order to achieve maximum productivity and full use of multi-skilling opportunities.
• To ensure that turnover and absenteeism are kept to a minimum level.
• Assists in preparing the annual budget and financial targets for Engineering together with the Chief Engineer and with the support of Finance.
• Providing management and leadership on the field to all subordinates and Gardner’s.
• To administer the Performance & Development Reviews within the department, and provide coaching and mentoring.
• To lead by example at all times

What are we looking for?

An Assistant Team leader Gardening serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

• With 5 years’ experience in a five-star hotel/resort environment in a similar capacity
• With College Degree or Diploma related to Landscaping / Horticulture or Agriculture
• Good Knowledge of coconut tree, orchid cultivation, and organic farming
• Must have good knowledge of disease control methods related to farming
• Good understanding of proper planting techniques
• Managing various type of waste as per the standards
• Ability develop new concepts and benchmark the garden operation
• Experience of maintaining ISO 14001 standards, EarhtCheck or Green Globe Standards
• Excellent verbal communication, and the ability to convey information clearly and effectively
• Ability to speak in Dhivehi & Hindi will be an added advantage
• Strong leadership abilities and initiative
• Strong attention to details and ability to multitask.
• Confident, proactive and willing to take on challenges
• Excellent grooming standards
• Exceptional communication skills
